Our Mission
Podbud is an educational tool system used by elementary school teachers and students from kindergarten to 2nd grade. Podbud aims to provide a personalized learning experience within the classroom by using artificial intelligence to analyze students’ performance and generate learning content corresponding to their level.
The Problem
Elementary school teachers are required to juggle multiple tasks while overseeing an average classroom size of 24 students. The overwhelming amount of responsibilities makes it difficult for teachers to give quality one-on-one instruction time to students. The generalized learning experience negatively impacts each students’ engagement levels.
Our Hypothesis
Teachers spend a significant amount of time manually documenting students’ academic and behavioral performance, taking away time to understand and tend each individual’s needs. Using AI within the classroom to track student performance and generate personalized learning content would lighten a teacher’s workload and increase student engagement.
Student
Students are more likely to engage when the learning content is physically in their hands. Early education students heavily rely on structure and repetition within the classroom. Early education students depend on words of affirmation.
Teacher
A lot of their time goes into testing and recording student progress. This takes away time from interacting with students. Manual tools (pen and paper) are still used to record data. Teacher has to keep up with fast transitions to different parts of a learning cycle.

PROS
・Students can have different levels of practice depends on their needs
・On-demand instruction
・Additional problems provide practice to proficiency
・Game-based learning
・Digital planning tools and flexible implementation
・High-interest reading selection with photos or illustrations
・Multi-leveled questions for practicing comprehension
CONS
・Instant feedback may not be able to answer the questions very accurately.
・The instant feedback might not as efficient as a real instructor
・Books and word cards could make students bored easily
・There is a gap between the Laptop keys, flat cards, and real-life operations. Students can learn online through computers or phones; however, those devices are screen-based and different from the real-life operation.
Positioning Statements
The current classroom setting predominately uses analog instructional materials. We want to introduce technology that can enhance analog tools and strengthen the classroom ecosystem. When using analog learning materials, students rely on teachers for guided learning and feedback. With more advanced learning materials, students are able to receive feedback more frequently.
